Before you begin…

Aloha,

Welcome to the Hawaii Wai Ola Hui, we are excited to have you join our team! By joining, you show your dedication to malama kai and support for clean water for reefs and people. The more volunteers we have, the more sites Hawai’i Wai Ola can monitor around the island with increasing insight.

This training tool is designed to introduce and teach interested community members how to sample nearshore areas under the Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP). Training is a multi-step process that begins here! Once the virtual sessions are complete, individuals will coordinate field training within their region to become active citizen science volunteers.

Training Modules

Volunteer’s should have the ability to:

  • Work in hot/sunny conditions, on uneven terrain. Sampling is conducted along shoreline areas in knee-deep water.
